Operated in Pacific from commissioning 1964 until overhaul in 1969. Transferred to Atlantic, operating out of Holy Loch, Scotland from 1971. Converted to carry Poseidon missile 1978, converted to Trident missile 1980. Operated out of King's Bay, Georgia 1980 through 1993. Decommissioned February 14, 1994 after completing 75 deterrent patrols. Scrapping/recycling completed November 4, 1994.
