Locy Type 2 Examples

Type 2 cancels have a dial at the left with the ship’s name at the bottom, and four wide killer bars at the right, spaced far apart.

The following cancel is classified as Type 2(n):

The “(n)” variation indicates that the ship’s hull designation and number are included in the dial and appear between parentheses.

The following cancel is classified as Type 2s(C):

The “s” variation indicates that serif letters were used for “USS” and the ship’s name in the dial. The “C” variation indicates that there is a period after the ship’s name in the dial.

The following cancel is classified as Type 2-1(n+) (D2,USS,USN):

The “-1” variation indicates that “U.S. Navy” appears in the dial in addition to the ship’s name. The “(n+)” variation indicates that the hull designation and number appear between parentheses and that there is a hyphen between the hull designation and the number. The “D2” variation indicates that the lettering in the dial is rotated counterclockwise. The “USS” variation indicates that there are no periods after the letters in “USS”. The “USN” variation indicates that there are no periods after the letters “US” in “US Navy”.
